Posting on a February 29th is rare so I decided to share this hilariously cute picture of cats (I prefer dogs). At first there was no real point to this post but this picture reminded me of a documentary one of my gay friends lent out for me to watch.

The documentary, in short, interviews parents who have gay children as well as religious leaders who comment on how the bible is misunderstood and used as an excuse to condemn homosexuality as immoral.

I love how one of the religious priests states that people use the bible to argue against homosexuality and say “Well, the bible says homosexuality is wrong.” “No sir.” The bible reads and you say it to best fit your argument.

One part of the film analyses how abomination is incorrectly linked with immorality. When in fact abomination is defined, in the film, as something that is against ritual and tradition. There is more to the film but I won’t spoil it for you.

By the way, the documentary is called “For The Bible Tells Me So” [link]. There’s a synopsis of the film that better explains the documentary and the families featured. The two most prominent families is The Robinsons (as in Gene Robinson the first Anglican bishop who is gay) and The Gephardts (the Democratic politician has a daughter, she is gay).
